ÅF wins contract with SKB relating to storage of spent nuclear fuel at Forsmark
ÅF has, together with Tyréns AB, signed a contract with the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company, SKB, relating to preliminary studies prior to systematic project management of the storage of spent nuclear fuel at the Forsmark nuclear power plant.
The initial order is worth approximately SEK 6 million. It is estimated that at least half of this sum will accrue to ÅF. In all likelihood, this will be followed by the signing of a more extensive contract for systematic project management of the storage of the nuclear fuel. This project, which will run during 2012 and 2013, is estimated to be worth approximately SEK 75 million.
Most of the work will be carried out from ÅF in Stockholm and will involve resources and expertise from a number of ÅF divisions. The preliminary investigations will be undertaken in close liaison with SKB on site at Forsmark ÅF has won the order thanks both to a strong portfolio of references from major infrastructure and industrial projects and to the company’s world-class expertise in the nuclear power industry.
