AvaNet Web was first launched in 2000 and has been used in many infrastructure projects, large and small, for monitoring of critical parameters such as pore water pressure, slope stability, vibrations, etc, as well as for long-term monitoring of various constructions.

The AvaSystem consists of the AvaNet Web and field measuring instruments. The AvaNet Web controls the measuring instruments and allows management of measurement data over the web. The measuring instruments, to which any type of sensor can be attached, are battery powered and equipped with wireless communication (GPRS). The AvaSystem also includes data storage with automatic back-up routines and secure archiving. Furthermore, solutions for automatic alarms via cell phone or email are provided. The AvaSystem is designed to accept optional sensors and new sensors interfaces are constantly added to the list.

The AvaNet Web and the measuring instruments in the AvaSystem family are developed by Bergsäker. Bergsäker was founded in 1972 by Lennart Karlsson, an innovator and entrepreneur in construction business in Sweden. His spirit of innovation is still alive and Bergsäker is today leading the development of remote monitoring of the environment. Bergsäker has approximately 50 employees and has operations in Gothenburg (HQ), Stockholm, Karlstad, Uppsala and Örebro.

2010-08-02 | Two GIA Häggloaders and three GIA locomotives, each pulling three shuttlecars have been delivered to Hong Kong’s West Drainage Tunnel Scheme for ‘spoil’ removal from 29 adits totalling 8 km. Making their debut in Hong Kong, the GIA units were ordered specifically by Joint Venture contractors Dragages-Nishimatsu for their ability to work in small diameter tunnels. A complete "line-up" of GIA tunnelling equipment comprising locomotives, suttlecars and Haggloaders have been delivered to the Dragages-Nishimatsu JV for work on the Hong Kong Drainage Tunnel Scheme.

2010-01-04 | In its annual full-year forecast for 2010, the Raw Materials Group (RMG) expects metal prices to have bottomed out and 2010 to be another year with high metal prices. A falling market has been replaced by a market with physical demand and likely strong speculation over prices. Entirely in line with last year’s RMG forecast, all metals except gold fell during 2009 compared with 2008. RMG believes that the metal price bottom for this period of economic downturn was passed early in 2009 and for 2010 RMG forecasts another year of volatile metal prices with a mean price below the current day level for most metals.
