Bergteamet, a leading supplier of underground services, acquires Contector with operations in Boliden. “We have a long business relation with Contector, so we know what we are buying” Jan Marklund, Vice Managing Director of Bergteamet, says.

The Swedish Mining & Tunnelling Group (SMTG) member Bergteamet acquires another of the SMTG members; Contector, with operations in Boliden in the northern part of Sweden.

“Buying Contector now is a natural step for Bergteamet, since the current products and services of Contector fit well into our own offering to customers on a global market. We have a long business relation with Contector, so we know what we are buying” Jan Marklund, Vice Managing Director of Bergteamet, says.

“This is a favourable deal for both companies, which know each other well since many years. The acquisition is simple and achievable, since our offerings give us a larger market and more business. The coordination effects and synergies are substantial, as we are working towards the same customers and segments. It feels good to present a deal which is interesting in the long-term perspective” Klas Dagertun, Managing Director of Contector, says.

Bergteamet is one of the most complete suppliers of underground services in Europe, with customers within the mining and construction industries as well as in the institutional infrastructure sector. The company has four divisions; the Mining & Tunnelling division is focusing on drift and ore mining, the Raise boring division is active all over the world with vertical drilling, the Exploration division offers exploration drilling services and the Mining Equipment Construction division is working with construction and service. Bergteamet, with offices in Boliden and Skellefteå, has 400 employees and the turnover for 2010 is estimated to 1 billion SEK.
