Gruvteknik – a recycling forerunner

With global warming and climate change, environmental care has become a popular buzz word. For Gruvteknik, recycling has been the basis of the business since the company was founded 30 years ago.

Gruvteknik is a treasure house for machinery, equipment, spares and service for the mining, construction and quarrying sectors. The company provides customers all over the world with mining, construction, tunnelling, pneumatic and hydraulic machines of well-known brands. Gruvteknik also has an impressive stock of spares and components to older machinery from Atlas Copco, Alvenius, Secoroc, SIG and Tamrock.

- Our speciality is to make available equipment that others cannot provide, Christina Johansson Linder, CEO, says.

Christina Johansson Linder is daughter of the founder of the company, Lars-Olof Nilsson, and runs the family business together with her brother Bo Nilsson. Gruvteknik was started in 1979, when the mine Blötberget was closed and Lars-Olof Nilsson purchased all the machinery and equipment that was left.

The company continued to purchase the assets of other smaller iron-ore mines that were being closed one after another in the mining districts. As time has gone by, the equipment has become a gold mine to exploit for the mining, construction and quarrying industries.

In hard times, people are more willing to buy second hand. Some customers also normally prefer simple equipment that they can repair themselves, instead of having to wait for a technician to arrive. If you are reasonably handy, you can disassemble an old drill rig and put it together yourself.

There has been good response to Gruvteknik’s ambition to give older equipment, including the machinery that is no longer in ordinary stock, a second life. Why buy a new rig if the old one will be working if only one part is replaced?

- Dad worked like this from the very beginning. He was recycling all the time – now it has become trendy, Christina Johansson Linder rounds off.
