Alvenius is a manufacturer of spirally welded, high quality steel pipes. During the first months of 2010, Alvenius have signed a number of important mining projects, including supply of steel pipes for transport of slurry, acidic water, plain water and air in dimensions covering from 60 mm (2”) up to 508 mm (20”).
Among the recent projects, there is the new main level in LKAB’s Kiruna Mine, a coated pipe in the leaching process at Somincor’s Neves Corvo Mine in Portugal, a new pipeline in the Katanga Mine in DRC as well as the coal mine owned by the Store Norske consortium at Svalbard, Norway.
All pipes from Alvenius are manufactured in Sweden from high grade Swedish steel. The competition from low quality, low cost pipes is always though, but these projects show the potential of Alvenius. To further expand its business, Alvenius will start up a new office in Johannesburg, South Africa, during the second part of 2010.
