Flexible ducting system

Jensen Ventilation supplies flexible ducting systems to the mining and tunnelling industry. The company, formed in 1879, is one of the oldest companies in the world specialised in processing of PVC coated materials.

Jensen Ventilation, with head office and production in Malmö, Sweden, offers flexible ducting systems with different alternatives in quality, dimension and connection. Jensen Ventilation uses a welding system which is based on a welding method developed within the company and patented in Sweden. One of the advantages with this welding system is a 40 mm wide welding seam, which gives the seam almost the same strength as the material itself.

Materials

Long experience and major research enable Jensen Ventilation to produce fabrics with minimal elongation of the base fabric. The result of this development is found in the current qualities JP 501, JP 551, JP 651 and JP 752, which give less elongation in the length direction and practically no extension of the ducting diameter. All qualities are fire retardant and optionally also antistatic. Bends, Y and T branches and cones are all made of extremely solid fabrics with welded seams.

Connection

Changes in speed result in an alteration of the dynamic pressure, to the disadvantage of efficient ventilation and with loss of energy as a consequence. A straighter and tighter tube in the coupling area will lead to better results at the end of the ventilation canal. With appropriate connections, costs for high power performance of the fan are reduced as well as operative expenses on account of energy-saving.
Jensen Ventilation offers three connection options:

  1. Traditional connection with a galvanized coupling clamp outside and one or two steel rings welded in the end of the ducting.
  2. A special made zip joint, which is very strong and durable.
  3. A strong and easily handled velcro coupling.

Suspension

Galvanized steel hooks, assembled on the ducting, are hooked on a longitudinal steel wire on the tunnel ceiling. The suspension is constructed in such way, that if there would be an extraordinary force on the ducting, the steel hooks will break and leave the reinforcements without damage. Spare steel hooks can easily be reassembled on the ducting.
